SLP 205 : Clinical Ethics and Documentation
This course introduces Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) students to the ethical and legal foundations of clinical practice, with an emphasis on professional conduct, scope of practice, and clinical documentation standards. Students will explore the ASHA Code of Ethics, HIPAA regulations, and the roles and responsibilities of SLPAs within a supervised framework. Additionally, students will develop proficiency in accurate, objective, and timely documentation practices, including progress notes, treatment records, and billing compliance. The course prepares students to uphold ethical principles and legal requirements while contributing to effective patient care and interprofessional collaboration.
