SLP 102 : Language Acquisition

This course explores the typical development of language throughout the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on the biological, cognitive, and social foundations of language, as well as the components and functions of language across developmental stages. Students will examine major theories of language acquisition and the sequence of developmental milestones in phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. The course also addresses cultural and linguistic diversity and factors that may influence language development. Students will gain foundational knowledge needed to support language development in clinical and educational settings under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist.
