OTA 216 : The Psychiatric Environment and Group Process in O.T. Lab

This course is the lab component of OTA 215. It will provide the opportunity to develop observation skills specific to the psychiatric environment. Students will demonstrate the ability to provide therapeutic use of self while utilizing occupation based activities as part of the therapeutic process in both individual and group interactions. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the use of practice models and intervention strategies in the mental health field, lead and adapt a therapeutic group, communicate with and respond to patients with mental health disorders.
