OTA 213 : Treatment Planning and Implementation: Part I Theory - Pediatrics

This course is the first of a two part series. It is an in depth study of the sensorimotor, cognitive, and psychosocial factors of human development from conception thru young adulthood. Emphasis is on both typical and atypical development. Lecture focus will include the OTA’s role in the referral, data collection, screening, and evaluation process. Students will develop knowledge required to design and implement treatment plans through an in depth analysis of tasks relative to areas of occupation, performance skills, performance patterns, activity demands, contexts, and client factors. Upon completion students will describe the sequence of developmental milestones, understand the referral process, and the OT/OTA collaboration needed to develop individualized treatment plans for pediatric-young adult clients.
