Degree Requirements

To become eligible to receive an associate degree from Wallace State Community College, the student must fulfill the following requirements:

Associate in Arts or Associate in Science Degree ā€“ Completion of a minimum of 60-64 semester hours credit in an approved Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree program with a minimum of twenty-five (25) percent of the total semester hours taken at Wallace State Community College. The exact number of semester hours required in each program is specified in the Academic Programs section of this catalog. 

Associate of Applied Science Degree ā€“ Completion of 60-76 semester credit hours in a planned program of study with a minimum of twenty-five (25) percent of the total semester hours taken at Wallace State Community College. The exact number of semester hours required in each program is specified in the Academic, Health Sciences, and Career/Technical Programs section of this catalog. 

  1. Successfully complete the general education and other required courses as specified in the program of study.
  2. Earn a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average.
  3. Pass all courses in the major area of study with a grade of ā€œCā€ or better.
  4. Meet graduation requirements within five (5) years of the date of their first admission. Those who do not meet these requirements must meet the requirements in effect at the time of their graduation. Students readmitted to WSCC must meet the graduation requirements at the time of their readmission.
  5. Receive approval of the division dean.
  6. Fulfill all financial obligations to the College.
  7. Complete formal application for graduation by the specified deadline and submit  to the Lion Central desk.
